Paved and Adaptive Trails in Bella Vista

Paved and Adaptive Trails in Bella Vista

Several Bella Vista trails are designed or maintained with adaptive use in mind, offering stable surfaces, manageable grades, and wider berths. These trails support adaptive bicycles, handcycles, and other mobility-assisted equipment.

Bella Vista’s trail network is best known for its rocky Back 40 ledges and the long flow of Little Sugar. But the same system that rewards experienced riders also includes trails built so that a handcycle, an adaptive bike, a stroller, or a wheelchair can get into the forest — not just to the edge of it. Here’s where to start.

Tweety Bird Trail

The Tweety Bird Trail is a just-over-1.5-mile loop with gentle grades and consistent surfaces, commonly used for adaptive riding and skill development. It’s also the most popular entry point for beginners, offering a compact loop that supports learning basic cornering and speed control. Designed with beginners in mind, it’s approachable and gives riders or hikers an immersion in a trail system without being overwhelming.

The Tweety Bird lot is a small trailhead parking area within the Little Sugar system, so the loop connects outward to longer rides as skills grow.

Snowbird Trail

Snowbird Trail provides a 1-mile soft-surface option with simple rollers and no technical obstacles, allowing adaptive users to experience immersive forested terrain beyond paved areas. For riders and hikers of any ability, it’s a gentle introduction to soft-surface trail riding.

Bluebird Trail

The Bluebird Trail is a paved loop featuring public art installations, playground options for families, and nearby picnic areas. The trail is lit, making it a popular option anytime of day for short walks, casual rides, and ideal for visitors with strollers or mobility devices. Access to the main parking lot is on Riordan Road, next to Phat Tire Bike Shop and the Little Sugar Crossing commercial hub.

For mixed-ability groups, Bluebird is the paved alternative — one person can ride the soft-surface Snowbird while another stays on pavement, and everyone meets back at the same lot.

Branchwood Nature Trail

The Branchwood Nature Trail, in the northwest corner of Bella Vista, is a 1.5-mile paved loop with picturesque elevation changes surrounded by forested hills that encircle the 9-hole disc golf course. The Branchwood Recreation Center has an indoor pool and fitness center, available to visitors with a guest pass from the Bella Vista POA.

Blowing Springs pump track and the Metfield Connector

There is a short paved pump track at the entrance of Blowing Springs with approachable options for non-technical riding. From the same park, the Metfield Connector is a wide bi-directional paved path that runs through the center of Blowing Springs and connects to the Razorback Greenway, a regional paved path that spans 40 miles through Bentonville, Rogers, and on to Fayetteville.
